What is the Platform Fee?

The Platform Fee is a per-entry charge paid by the person designated as financially responsible for costs associated with an entry (typically the exhibitor or owner). It covers the software and services used at horse shows that use the ShowGrounds platform.

How much is the Platform Fee?

The fee is $10.00 per entry, billed directly to your designated payment method in ShowGroundsLive.com. Fees are aggregated for each show and invoiced and charged weekly as a single payment. This charge will be separately on your statement.

Does this replace other fees I already pay?

No, the Platform Fee is separate from other event-related charges such as class fees, stabling, or administrative fees. It specifically supports access to the event management system and exhibitor tools.

What does the Platform Fee give me access to?

It supports everything from online entry systems, billing, results tracking, live schedules, and event communications — improving your overall show experience and making participation smoother.

Will I be charged more than once?

The Platform Fee is charged once per horse entry. If you enter multiple horses, each entry has its own Platform Fee. However, charges are grouped together and typically billed as a single combined payment each week to make your statements simpler.

Are there any exemptions?

The Platform Fee does not apply to entries scratched before the first show day begins. It also does not apply to FEI entries.

Can I change my default credit card for the platform fee?

Yes. You can go into your account at any time and manage your credit card for the platform fees.

Can I opt out of this platform fee?

No. The Platform Fee applies to all entries at shows using the ShowGroundsLive platform. If no payment method is available for the Platform fee, the fee will be added to your entry fees and paid with your entry payment.

An exhibitor with a past due balance for platform fees will be required to pay the balance prior to adding additional entries.

When will the new Platform Fee take effect?

The Platform Fee will apply to all shows with a start date on or after January 1, 2026. Entries submitted to shows that are dated before that date will not include the fee, even if the show office processes them later.

Do I need to complete on-boarding before I can enter shows?

Yes. All exhibitors responsible for show fees must complete on-boarding before entering shows with start dates on or after January 1, 2026. On-boarding includes agreeing to updated Terms of Service and saving a default payment method for the platform fee.

What happens if I don’t complete on-boarding?

You will be unable to enter shows online. When a payment method has not been designated for the platform fee, the fee will be added to the show entry for payment.

What if my payment method fails or my card expires?

You’ll receive an email notification if a payment fails. Please update your card in your exhibitor account as soon as possible. Unpaid platform fees will results in restricted access to ShowGrounds until paid in full.

What if someone else (like my trainer or agent) submits my entry?

The Platform Fee is billed to the person marked as financially responsible for the entry, regardless of who submits it. Please confirm your billing setup with your trainer or agent before entry submission.

How will this appear on my credit card or bank statement?

Platform Fee charges will appear as “SGL-Platform” or similar wording on your statement.

Can I use different payment methods for different shows?

Yes. You can update your default payment method at any time in your exhibitor account. The card on file at the time of invoicing will be used for that show’s platform fees.

What if I share ownership of a horse with someone else? Who pays the fee?

The Platform Fee is charged to the person designated as the responsible party for the entry. You can confirm or adjust that designation during the entry process. We are unable to split the charge between multiple payment methods.

Does this fee cover online payments for show fees or stalls?

No. The Platform Fee only supports access to the ShowGroundsLive system and its services. Any show-related payments (e.g., class fees, stabling, or show office charges) remain separate and are paid directly to the show.
